Chris Kent joined the USF men's basketball program in June 2017 as the team's Director of Player Development.

Kent comes to USF from Florida State, where he was a graduate assistant for two years under Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. During his time at FSU, Kent analyzed opponent films, calculated defensive stats, and evaluated defensive principles for the Seminoles. He also utilized Synergy and similar programs for player analysis as well as coordinated the J. Leonard Hamilton basketball camps. Most notably, he assisted the development of Denver Nuggets guard Malik Beasley and contributed to the Seminoles' 2016-17 NCAA Tournament team.

From 2013-15, Kent was an assistant coach for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League.  While in Fort Wayne, he created player evaluations of NBA players, helped assemble rosters through trades and player pools, regularly created scouting reports and was part of the Mad Ants' Championship team in 2014. Additionally, Kent conducted on-court skill development sessions and coordinated travel for visiting team staff/players.

A student-athlete himself, Kent played college basketball for two seasons at both Huntington University (Ind.) and Trine University (Ind.).

Kent graduated from Trine University with a B.S. in General Studies-Self Designed in 2014. He also earned his M.S. in Sports Management from FSU in 2017.

Chris is a native of Angola, Indiana.
