Mark Luoma joined the USF athletics business office in August 2022 after holding a variety of roles in the intercollegiate athletics industry, including stints at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the University of Maryland, Miami University, and the University of Michigan.Â
As a NACDA intern from 2021 to 2022, Luoma assisted in the daily management of eight affiliate associations housed under the NACDA umbrella, including CABMA, N4A, NAAC, ICLA, FCS ADA, I-AAA ADA, NADIIIAA, and NAIA ADA. He was also heavily involved in the planning and execution of the 2022 NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Las Vegas, which hosted over 6,000 athletics administrators and industry leaders from around the country.
Prior to NACDA, Luoma served as an assistant learning specialist at the University of Maryland, where he conducted daily learning support sessions and tracked academic progress for a caseload of student-athletes.Â
Luoma worked in athletics equipment operations at Miami University from 2016 to 2019 and was one of three athletics department employees recognized with the 2019 Miami Employee Service Leadership Award.
As an assistant equipment manager for the University of Michigan men’s ice hockey team during the 2015-16 season, Luoma was part of the program’s 2016 Big Ten Championship and NCAA quarterfinal runs. He later provided operational support for large-scale sporting events at Michigan Stadium as a member of the University of Michigan Event Team.
A native of Okemos, Michigan, Luoma attended the University of Michigan before going on to graduate summa cum laude from Miami University, earning a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and health in 2018 and a Master of Science in kinesiology and health with a concentration in sport leadership in 2019. He is an active member of the College Athletic Business Management Association and enjoys playing golf and hockey, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places.
