Mitchell McPartland

Mitchell McPartland joined the USF volleyball staff as the Volunteer Assistant for the 2018 season. He will be assisting in training, scouting, film preparation and practice planning. 

McPartland joins the Bulls after serving as the second assistant at Drake University, beginning in July 2016. Drake finished 17-15 in 2016, which at the time was the most wins for the program since 2010. He was responsible for travel operations and film exchange, while aiding in scouting, training, and camp operations. McPartland was heavily involved with serve receive and defense, as Drake finished with 17.67 digs per set in 2016, second in the Missouri Valley Conference and 10th nationally. 

McPartland has nearly four years of coaching experience at the high school, middle school and club levels. He was the JV head coach and varsity assistant at Grand View University from August 2015 - December 2015, working primarily with defensive specialists on the varsity team. JV team finished 23-14 in 2015, winning the HAAC JV conference tournament championship. From June 2014 - June 2016, McPartland served as the varsity assistant at Boone High School in Bonne, Iowa. Helped lead team to a 33-7 record and a regional final appearance in class 4A for first time in 10 years. 

At the club level, McPartland coached with the All Iowa Attack Volleyball Club from November 2014 - July 2015, was the head coach with Iowa Power Volleyball Alliance from November 2015 - April 2017, and a coach with Dynasty Volleyball Club. 

A former walk-on at Grand View University in Des Moine, Iowa, McPartland played and started all four seasons for coach Donan Cruz. He started as a freshman on the right side, recording a .242 hitting percentage. He was named the NAIA North Division Libero of the Year in 2014. Team finished third at the NAIA National Invitational in 2014 and 2015. McPartland graduated with a bachelors degree in health promotion with a focus in wellness from GVU in 2016.Â
