McDonald joined the USF volleyball staff as the Director of Operations in April, 2019. He joins the Bulls following two seasons as assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh.Â
While at Pitt., McDonald assisted with on court training and player development, with planning travel and meals, with scouting, film breakdown and marketing as well. The Panthers were the Atlantic Coast Conference Champions in 2018, posting a 30-2 overall record, 17-1 in the ACC. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. They were in AVCA Top 25 the entire season. Pitt. had four First Team All ACC selections.Â
McDonald has been an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association since 2016, coaching the top 14-under team in the club. He also served as an assistant coach from 2016-17 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Coraopolis, Pa., assisting with both the boys and girls teams.Â
McDonald has extensive experience using Volleymetrics and Data Volley. The Pa., native earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sports Management from St. Francis University in 2018. He was a four-year member of the men's volleyball team at St. Francis. His team was the EIVA Conference Tournament Runner-Up in 2016 and 2017. He was an academic all-conference selection in 2016 and 2018. Â
