Women's Soccer Tie's Pitt Panthers, 2-2

INDIANOLA, Pa. (October 7, 2005) ? The USF women's soccer team (5-4-3, 0-3-3 BIG EAST) went the distance with the Pitt Panthers (2-7-3, 1-3-2 BIG EAST) on a rainy Friday evening at Founders Field in Indianola, Pa.
A freak traffic accident on the highway interfered with the USF bus, delaying the start of the match to 9:05 p.m.
USF jumped out to an early lead in the 20th minute when Jessica Zabel stole the ball from the Pitt defender and found the back of the net to put the Bulls in the lead, 1-0.
Eight minutes later, the Bulls added on to their lead when Erika Lewis scored on a corner kick from Katie Reed.
Pitt came out after a short five minute halftime fired up. In the 55th minute of the match, a USF foul caused a Pitt free kick by Carli Brill. Brill preceded to rainbow the ball in front of the goal where Aimee Romasco was perfectly positioned to head the ball past a diving Casey Garrett.
In the 63rd minute, a penalty kick was awarded to the Panthers after a USF defender committed a foul in the penalty box. Pitt's Corina Sebesta too the kick and put the ball into the back to the net, knotting the match up at 2-2.
In overtime, the Bulls had two corner kicks intercepted by Pitt defenders, ending USF's scoring opportunities.
Goalkeeper Casey Garrett finished the evening with 11 saves.
On the night, Pitt outshot the Bulls 24-12, recording only four shots on goal.
The Bulls will look for their first BIG EAST victory on Sunday, when they face the West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown, W.Va. Game time is 1 p.m.
