USF Baseball Inks Eight to National Letters of Intent

(November 10, 2005) The USF baseball team has received eight signed national letters of intent today, head coach Eddie Cardieri announced. The group includes four pitchers, a catcher, two outfielder/first baseman and an outfielder/pitcher.

Greg Coffman was a second team all-Hillsborough County designated hitter for Gaither High as a junior in 2005, when he hit .302 with five home runs and 15 RBI through the regional final. Coffman projects as an outfielder/first baseman at USF.

Mark Diapoules is a right-handed pitcher from Martin County High School. At the Perfect Game Showcase in his junior year, his fastball was clocked at 88, while his breaking ball was 76 and his changeup was 77.

Troy Graybill is a left-handed pitcher from Sarasota High School, where he was Class 6A honorable mention all-state as a junior.

Taylor Hashman, like Coffman, projects as an outfielder/first baseman once he finishes up at Naples High School. Hashman is also the quarterback for the Naples football team.

Matt Quevedo and J.C. Suarez will each join the Bulls from Tampa Catholic High School. Quevedo projects as a right-handed pitcher, although he is also an outstanding hitter with four grand slams in his junior season, including two in one game. He was a second team all-county pick as a junior.

Suarez is an outfielder/pitcher and earned honorable mention all-county in his junior season.

St. Petersburg Catholic High School will also provide two players to the USF squad. Catcher Pete Woodworth and right-handed pitcher Matt Stull have each signed a letter of intent with the Bulls. Woodworth was second team all-state in Class 2A in 2005 as an infielder. In addition to catching, he has also played third base and pitched. He had a 6-2 record with an 0.40 ERA in 2005.

Stull finished his junior season with a 5-2 record and a 1.00 ERA for the Barons.
