Men's Tennis Falls to Intra-State Foe Florida State, 5-2.

TAMPA, Fla. (March 6, 2006) ? The USF men's tennis team dropped its third-straight match Monday afternoon when the Florida State Seminoles defeated the Bulls, 5-2, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Bulls came out of the gate aggressive taking 2-of-3 doubles matches to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead over the Seminoles.

The team of Dirk Britzen and Federico Barton took care of FSU's Y'tai Abougzir and Chris Westerhot, 8-6, to clinch the point at the No. 1 spot. Juan Barragan and Mark Gattiker earned the other victory at the No. 3 spot defeating Sam Chang and Jonathas Sucupira by the same score, 8-6.

With the doubles point at hand, the Bulls couldn't gain any momentum in singles play. USF lone win came from junior Dirk Britzen who defeated Abougzir in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

The Bulls will return to the Varsity Tennis Courts on Friday, March 10, when they face Old Dominion of the Colonial Athletics Association. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
