Tampa, Fla. (September 10, 2006) ? The University of South Florida women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the 2006 season Sunday afternoon in Tampa. The Bulls were outscored 3-0 by Florida International University in non-conference action at the USF Soccer Stadium.
The Bulls were last shut out 1-0 on Oct. 14, 2005 at Louisville.
The Golden Panthers started their scoring spree early in the game as freshman Lonne Godskesen scored her first goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game. Freshman Michelle Casadevall continued FIU's scoring in the 69th minute with an unassisted goal, her first of the season as well. With 13 minutes remaining in the game, Casadevall's found freshman Nanna Rasmussen, who stretched down the field, finding the back of net for the final goal of the game. Casadevall registered her first assist and Rasmussen netted her first goal of the season on the play.
USF had four shots on goal in the game, one from each of the following players: Jaleesa Scott, Rachel Jakubowski, Ebony Robinson and Autumn Browning. Browning took four total shots while Lindsay Brauer took three.
Scott made the first start of her USF career during game.
Senior goalkeeper Casey Garrett started the game for the Bulls, making no saves and allowing one goal. Freshman keeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi replaced Garrett at halftime, making her second appearance of the 2006 season while saving four shots and allowing two goals.
USF ended their week 2-1-0 with a 3-0 win over Stetson, a 1-0 win over No. 23 Marquette and this 3-0 loss to FIU.
The Bulls look to rebound from this loss Friday night, Sept. 15, against the Miami Hurricanes. Kickoff for the non-conference game is at 7 p.m. at Cobb Stadium in Miami.
