PISCATAWAY, N.J. ? Junior Kevon Neaves scored his forth goal of the season but it was not enough as the No. 16 University of South Florida men's soccer team fell, 9-3-2 (4-3-1), to division rival Rutgers 3-1 Saturday night at Yurcack Field.
The Scarlet Knights, 7-7-1 (4-4-0), capitalized early in the seventh minute on a penalty kick with Chris Moore scoring his first goal of the season in the lower left corner, past goalkeeper Diego Restrepo.
Rutgers logged two more goals in the 57th and 71st minute.
Sophomore Tomislav Barisic planted a shot in the top left corner from 35 yards out in the 57th minute of the contest and then made the most of a Restrepo block that the midfielder rebounded for his fifth goal of the year.
Neaves cracked the board in the 89th minute with a penalty kick that beat keeper Matt Vanoekel. It was the Petit Valley, Trinidad, native's second PK goal of the season.
Both Neaves and freshman Bernardo Anor recorded three shots for USF in the contest, to lead the squad. The team tallied 12 as a total against the Scarlet Knights.
USF returns home to Tampa to face Cincinnati on Wed., Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. The team will try for its 10th win of the season, as well as head coach George Kiefer's 60th career victory.
