DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Will Daniels scored 17 points in 21 minutes as Rhode Island came from behind to beat the University of South Florida, 74-67, at the Glenn Wilkes Classic on Friday.
Trailing more than half the game, the Rams went on an 11-4 run to take the lead 49-48, at 10:20 in the second half. Jimmy Baron made three 3-pointers and shot 7-of-14 in the paint for 17 points.
USF led by as many as 12 points in the first and took a 34-27 lead into halftime. The Bulls (0-3) shot 53 percent at the free throw line in the second half.
Parfait Bitee added 10 and Kahiem Seawright contributed eight points and 14 rebounds for the Rams.
The Bulls had four players in double figures, led by Kentrell Gransberry and Chris Howard with 16 points each. Gransberry also had 14 rebounds and the 16 points were career high for Howard. Freshman Orin Chin posted 13 points and nine rebounds in his first extended action of his career.
USF faces Florida Atlantic at Noon on Saturday and Florida State Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
