USF Men’s Basketball Welcomes Payne, Holloway, Campbell, Snow & Wessman to Staff

April 23, 2026

TAMPA, April 23, 2026 – University of South Florida Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Mack today welcomed several more key members of his first Bulls coaching staff.

Mack completed his coaching staff by naming Allen Payne, who served his first coaching position as a graduate assistant on Mack's Xavier staff, as assistant coach and adding Tu Holloway, who was the 2011 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year while playing for Mack at Xavier, as director of player development. He also named Chase Campbell as basketball strength and conditioning coach.

"We're continuing to add exceptional people who will be vital to South Florida basketball competing at the highest level," Mack said. "I had the opportunity to coach Tu and saw firsthand the competitor and winner he is. I've also known Allen for years, dating back to when he began his coaching career on my staff at Xavier, and I've always respected his talent and growth. Chase brings tremendous experience and a proven track record of success at both the collegiate and NBA level, with a unique ability to develop players athletically and mentally to compete at their best."

Mack also named Brian Snow as general manager/men's basketball and Andy Wessman as associate general manager/men's basketball.

"I've known Brian for many years and have tremendous respect for his deep understanding of the game and his eye for evaluating talent. From his work as a national recruiting analyst with 247Sports and CBS to helping assemble a top-15 class at Notre Dame and the highest-ranked class in Penn State history, his track record speaks for itself," Mack said. "I'm also thrilled to welcome Andy to Tampa–he played a pivotal role in securing the No. 4-ranked recruiting class at BYU and brings outstanding energy and expertise to our program.

The talent, passion, and experience across our USF basketball staff are exceptional. I couldn't be more excited about this group—we're aligned, energized, and ready to hit the ground running."

Allen Payne comes to South Florida after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Georgia State (2022-26). A three-year starter as a player at Auburn, Payne previously had successful coaching stints at Elon (2019-22) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2017-19) – where he helped guide the program to back-to-back conference regular-season championships and the PSAC Tournament title in 2019. In 2019, Payne was recognized on the Under Armour NABC 30 Coaches Under 30 list. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Xavier under Chris Mack.

Tu Holloway enters his first collegiate coaching position after culminating a 14-year professional playing career that saw him play in 14 different countries across Europe, the Middle East, Central America, South America, Asia and the Caribbean. A standout point guard at Xavier (2008-12), Holloway's Xavier teams won 100 games (an average of 25 per season), won three A-10 regular season titles and made the NCAA Tournament four times, including three Sweet 16 appearances.
