TAMPA, Fla. ? The University of South Florida baseball team continued its winning streak Tuesday night at Red McEwen Field by beating the Florida Atlantic Owls 7-6 in non-conference action.

The Bulls are now 7-5 after winning their last four-straight games.

Freshman Matt Stull earned his first win of his collegiate career, striking out three and allowing one run from three hits in 3.1 innings. Sophomore Shawn Sanford picked up his third save of the season with a three-up, three-down ninth inning.

Three Bulls connected on two hits in the game as senior Joey Angelberger was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored and junior Brian Hobbs and freshman Ryan Lockwood were each 2-for-4 at the plate. Lockwood picked up the Bulls' only extra-base hit, a double in the first inning.

USF broke out of the gates with five runs in the second inning and one in the sixth to take the early lead, but FAU collected three in the third and a pair in the fourth to keep the game close through five frames.

In the second, the Bulls tallied five runs from as many hits as four of the first five batters reached base on singles. Hobbs singled up the middle, then junior catcher Trey Manz sent a shot to center field to put runners on first and second. Angelberger put down a bunt to move the runners, and outran the Owls' defense, picking up a single. Junior Chris Rey singled to left, then junior Mike Consolmagno drew a walk and Jonathan Koscso was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Lockwood singled up the middle, driving in two runs and giving the Bulls an early 5-0 lead.

After the Owls scored two in the third, USF added to their lead, as junior Brandon Smith drew a walk and Hobbs picked up his second hit of the game and 15th of the season.

FAU scattered three runs over the next four innings before USF took the 7-6 lead after seven. A sacrifice fly from Smith in the seventh scored Consolmagno, who drew a walk to reach base earlier in the inning, putting the Bulls up for good.

The Bulls next host the University of North Florida (7-4) at 7 p.m. Wednesday. USF and UNF are tied at one apiece in the all-time series. The Bulls won the last meeting, on March 20, 2007, 5-1 in Tampa.
