TAMPA, Fla. ? The University of South Florida baseball team dropped the third game of their first BIG EAST Conference series, 3-2, to the Seton Hall Pirates Sunday afternoon at Red McEwen Field.
The Bulls, who had won their last seven games, fall to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in the BIG EAST Conference.
"We had a tough day, and we did not finish the job," said head coach Lelo Prado. "No team should be satisfied with two out of three."
Freshman Stephen Hunt was tagged with his first loss, allowing two runs from one hit in 0.1 IP. Sophomore RHP Matt Quevedo started the game, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out six Pirates, five-straight in the fourth and fifth innings.
At the plate, freshman Ryan Lockwood was 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored, improving his first-career BIG EAST weekend to 6-for-11 at the plate for a .545 average.
Freshman Jonathan Koscso and juniors Brian Hobbs and Trey Manz ? all newcomers to the 2008 team ? had hits in the game.
USF returns to the field for a pair of midweek games against nationally-ranked Oklahoma on March 18-19. Both games are 7 p.m. starts and can be heard live on the USF Press Pass Radio as well as on 1010 Sports.
