Fowler Paces Bulls at Home Meet

TAMPA - - While playing host to the Bulls Invitational, the University of South Florida men's track and field team performed well during a beautiful day in Tampa, Fla.
Junior hurdler Glenn Fowler highlighted the day for the Bulls with a 14.30 first place time in the 110m hurdles. The pace propels Fowler into second place on the USF all-time charts and qualifies him for the NCAA Regionals. Fowler now is a regional qualifier in both the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.
Tyler Perkins already qualified for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in the discus following a good performance two weeks prior at the USF Open. Perkins topped that performance with a NCAA Regional qualifying mark after his 51.93 discus throw.
Perkins also clinched a spot in the BIG EAST hammer throw after a 48.83 hurl.
For the second time this season, Michael Kursteiner had a high jump of 2.10m to win the event. The height ties his personal career best.
In the long jump, Mikese Morse won with a 6.77m leap. Morse set the all-time school record in this event earlier this season.
Josh Wimbley won a pair of events for USF including the 200-meter-dash (21.99) and the 400-meter-dash (49.51). Wimbley had already qualified for the conference meet in both events but continues to put up fast times.
Ryan Courtoy captured a couple of victories on the day as well, crossing the finish line in the 800m after 1:57.36 and the 1500m in 4:08.60.
The men's 4x400 team of D'Andre Ruff, Wimbley, Mikail Ebanks and Carlan Arthur won the relay after cutting the tape at 3:16.53.
USF will now hit the road to El Paso, Tex. for the UTEP Invitational on Sat. March 29.
