VILLANOVA, Penn. ? The University of South Florida softball team overcame a two run deficit and scored six runs in the seventh to come out with a 9-5 victory in the first game of the doubleheader against Villanova on Sunday afternoon.

Down 5-3 in the top of the seventh, sophomore JoJo Medina led off with a dominant double to centerfield. Alison Savarese followed suit with a left field double that scored Medina and cut the Wildcats' lead to one.

Savarese tied the game for the Bulls when senior Courtney Mosch stepped up to the plate and recorded the team's first triple of the 2008 campaign.

With the USF dugout behind her, sophomore catcher Cat Olnick rammed a deep left field double to score Mosch and give the Bulls the 6-5 lead over Villanova.

The Bulls added three more runs after that to make the score 9-5 as the Wildcats were unable to produce a run in the bottom of the seventh.

USF improved to 32-12 and 7-0 in BIG EAST play, while Villanova dropped to 12-14 and 2-5 in conference.

Mosch scored the first run of the game leading off the second frame with a single up the middle, advancing on an Olnick single, and taking advantage of a Wildcat error to reach home base.

Shortstop Tara Toscano put the Bulls up 2-0 in the fourth drawing a walk, stealing second and scoring on a throwing error by the third baseman.

The Wildcats put one run in the fourth before their four-run rally in the sixth.

Toscano led all batters going 2-for-4, with three RBI and two runs. Olnick went 2-for-4, one run and the game-winning RBI.
