Men's Basketball Postgame Quotes

USF Head Coach Stan Heath
Opening statement...

That was a disappointing loss, I just think our team swallowed a little poison, thinking we were better than what we are. We didn't realize we had to come and play every game. We allowed Central Michigan to run their stuff and we allowed them to be the aggressive team, and that's not how we have been playing all year long.

We have got to reconfigure our team and figure out things we can do to help us. One is that we execute a little better and handle some of those screen situations like we were doing early on. And obviously we have got to do a good job on the boards. There were a lot of glaring holes today and some holes I hadn't seen before. But I think it's fixable, it's just disappointing.

About the frustration of Famous ...
Yes, there's two ways. He's got to pull stuff bigger and stronger. And we've got to read the help side defense. A couple of times we just threw it and there was help side defense as well as we threw away there was a guy on the high side and there was one person to beat. But we've lost a little bit of that 'other guy'. It's not just Jarrid. We need Toarlyn to be a post of difference too, and we need Jarrid to work to get himself open and we've got to do a better job of feeding him in there. But we had no post presence today. I don't think that it only effected our scoring our scoring inside, but it affected our three-point shooting too.

CMU Head Coach Ernie Zeigler
You know, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to come in and play a very well coached team that was depleted right now, but I don't want to not acknowledge or lessen that fact that our kids really came in and battled. And to play a BIG EAST team, and being a former coach for the BIG EAST and knowing the level of physicality that BIG EAST teams play with, I really thought our kids came with a toughness and a level of physicality that allowed us to earn a heartfelt win.

On about keeping the ball out of Famous' hands ...
We knew that he was going to be a point of interest for them offensively to take up some of that slack with the loss of Gilchrist. Will McClure and Marko Spica and our post players did a really good job of just working to deny. Then we wanted to get it out of his hands when he did get it, and we were able to double team him numerous times.
