GAINESVILLE ? The University of South Florida softball team (11-7 overall) fell to Illinois (12-5), 6-0, Saturday morning in Gainesville.
Senior Britta Giddens went go 2-for-3. Her sixth inning double moved her up to sixth on the USF career list with 39.
Freshman Gina Kafalas led the Bulls offense by going 2-2 at the plate with two bunt singles.
Illinois would put a run on the board in the first inning, while adding three in the fifth and two in the seventh.
The Bulls outhit the Fighting Illini, 6-5
Candace Howell received the loss tossing 4.2 innings of work allowing one earned run, striking out three and giving up three hits.
The Bulls will face the Pacific University Tigers immediately following the conclusion of the Illinois vs. USF game.
