TAMPA - The University of South Florida softball team (28-14 overall, 7-3 BIG EAST) fell to the Villanova Wildcats (14-7 overall, 1-3 BIG EAST) 8-0 in six innings in the second game of the doubleheader.
“I think what happened in game two is unacceptable,” said USF head coach Ken Eriksen. “I think we have to go back and reevaluate tonight and everyone needs to take a look in the mirror. It was a lack of focus.”
Freshmen Gina Kafalas and Janine Richardson along with sophomore Kelly McCarver were the only Bulls to tally a hit.
Freshman Brittany Bowles (6-4) suffered the lost, tossing one inning allowing two hits and three runs.
The Wildcats would put runs across in the first, second, third and sixth inning.
The Bulls return to the field tomorrow as they host Notre Dame in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern. Bright House Sports Network (Channel 47 on Bright House Cable) will air the both games of the doubleheader.
