TAMPA ? Junior JoJo Medina's' home run and a five-run third inning propelled the University of South Florida softball team (31-20 overall, 10-9 BIG EAST) past the Providence Friars (14-30 overall, 6-10 BIG EAST) by a score of, 6-1, in game one of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Bulls took an early one run lead in the bottom of the first on a Britta Giddens double, driving in Tara Toscano from first base. The seniors double is the 12th of the year and the 47th of her career.

Toscano followed with a single that moved Kafalas to third and score on a Friar throwing error. Giddens drove in Richardson, her second RBI of the day with a single up the middle.
Catcher Cat Olnick laid down a bunt that plated Toscano and set the table for Medina. The Tampa native stepped to the plate and sent a two-run homer over the left field fence to give the Bulls a 6-0 lead.
