WNIT Watch Party Coach Leavitt canceled the closed scrimmage on Saturday.
“We're a little banged up right now and I want to give our guys a chance to heal. We'll adjust the schedule and add a couple practices after the Spring Game on April 11,” said Jim Leavitt.
At the Coaches Clinic he told the crowd that he canceled the scrimmage, "to make sure that his team and staff could watch the Bulls defeat Kansas in the Women's NIT Championship game."
We love that type of support!!
Here's a little more cross promotion. The Bulls play the Jayhawks at Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern. The game will be televised nationally by CBS College Sports. You can also listen to the game on 1010 WQYK AM and BullsVision Radio.
Coaches Clinic in Full Swing The USF football coaches clinic has been in full swing since Noon on Friday. The Bulls welcomed in guest speakers Tommy Tuberville and Tony Dungy. Dungy will take the podium tonight.
Tuberville and Leavitt have known eachother for many years and have become close colleagues. When Tuberville was a defensive coordinator at Miami, Bob Stoops and Leavitt - then on staff at Kansas State - came down to observe his defense.
Who was one of the more famous members of Tuberville's defenses?
Kevin Patrick, who was an All-American for the Hurricanes and won two national championships at Miami. Tuberville recommended Patrick to Coach Leavitt before the defensive line coach rejoined the staff prior to the 2008 season.
- We listened to linebackers coach David Blackwell give his presentation during the clinic. Near the end he said the reason he came to USF, "was to work with athletes like Kion Wilson that are determined to great players."
Leavitt Commits To Run The 40-Yard Dash USF head football coach Jim Leavitt has committed to run the 40-yard dash as part of the festivities around the USF Student Combine leading up to the annual Spring Game.
Spurred by immense media pressure, Coach Leavitt said that he would run a “5.9” forty-yard dash prior to a recent practice session.
Throughout his career Coach Leavitt has led the Bulls onto the field at a full sprint. He is known to outpace his security team by several lengths.
Next week he will set the pace for students competing in the USF Combine ? a competition to name the best athlete that will be judged on individual results in the 40-yard dash, three-cone drill, shuttle run and broad jump.

To earn time and jump a few upperclassman on the depth chart, he'll have to continue to maximize his perforance in the weight room. He is off to great start. The Lake Mary high school product added 65 pounds to his bench press and nearly three inches to his broad jump.
