Bulls Set to Host a Pair of BIG EAST Showdowns

TAMPA - Coming off arguably one of the best wins in program history, the University of South Florida women's soccer team looks to extend its three game unbeaten streak as they host a pair of BIG EAST Conference foes at the USF Soccer Stadium this weekend.

The Bulls, now 4-4-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in the BIG EAST, kick off the upcoming weekend Friday evening with a date with the Pirates of Seton Hall at 7:30 p.m. and then the Bulls will turn their focus to nationally ranked Rutgers for a Sunday showdown at 1 p.m. on October 4.

Schilte-Brown guided her Bulls, to arguably one of the biggest wins in USF's fourteen year history this past Sunday when they Bulls defeated BIG EAST American division favorite West Virginia, 2-1. The win was the first over the Mountaineers in four tries and one of their better wins in program history. True freshman, Boo Eagle, tallied her first collegiate goal to give the Bulls the early lead just 3:08 into the match. USF then got an insurance goal from sophomore Noelle Pineiro, which would prove to be the eventual game winner. The goals were the first ever scored by the Bulls in four matches against the Mountaineers.

Pineiro, the Bulls leading scorer, was named a CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Player after her three point effort against the Mountaineers. Pineiro now has six goals and two assists on the season to give her a team high 14 points. Her six goals are the most since Lindsay Brauer's nine goals in 2009.

The meeting between the Bulls and Pirates marks just the second meeting between the two programs and first since 2006. In the first meeting, the Bulls fell to the Pirates 4-1, in South Orange. The second match of the weekend will also mark the second meeting with Rutgers. USF lost the only meeting with the Scarlet Knights, where the Bulls were shutout in New Brunswick, N.J. with 5-0 defeat on Oct. 1, 2006.

Seton Hall is coming of a week in which they went 0-1-1, which the Pirates suffered a 3-1 loss at Villanova on Sept. 25 and then play to a 1-1 tie against Georgetown on Sept. 27. Seton Hall is 4-5-1 on the season, 0-2-1 in the BIG EAST and are just 1-4-0 away from home. The Pirates are led by Nicki Grosson and Danielle Schulmann in the offensive attack. The duo has combined for seven of the teams 14 goals and 29 shots on goal.

The Scarlet Knights come to Tampa coming of a 1-0-1 week, which included a 1-0 win at Georgetown on Sept. 25 and a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Villanova on Sept. 27. Rutgers will come into town sporting a No. 13 ranking by NCSAA . Heading into the weekend, the Scarlet Knights sit in second place in the National Division of the BIG EAST, just two points behind division leading Notre Dame with a BIG EAST ledger 2-0-1. They are 8-1-2 on the season and riding a five match unbeaten streak.

So far this season the Scarlet Knights have outscored their opposition by a 20-5 margin.
