If you weren't there ...

The University of South Florida women's basketball team returned to the hardwood this afternoon looking to end a week-long odyssey on a positive note, while also looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

USF, who has been on the road since Feb. 8 due to a recent blizzard that went through the Midwest while it was in Milwaukee for its game with Marquette, may have had flashbacks of its 2009 Women's National Invitation Tournament title run when it was on the road for 10 days straight. Well fortunately for the Bulls, they had the same outcome in the end as it handed Seton Hall a 53-38 loss at Walsh Gymnasium.

USF, playing in what was head coach Jose Fernandez' 300 career game, got a team-high 12 points from Jessica Lawson, including her 1,000th career-point with 15:57 remaining in the game. Lawson became the 17th player in school history to reach the career milestone. In addition, Lawson would grab a game-high 14 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season and the 25th of her career.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The University of South Florida women's basketball team returned to the hardwood this afternoon looking to end a week-long odyssey on a positive note, while also looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

Leondra Doomes-Stephens would add 11 points in the win.

USF would jump out of the gate and take command of the contest early on in the first half scoring the first six points of the game on field goals by Stephens, Melissa Dalembert and Jessica Lawson.

The Bulls (14-10, 5-6 BIG EAST) would hold the Pirates to without a field goal until Terry Green hit a three with 15:18 left in the half.

USF would continue to dominate pushing its lead to as many as 16 points, twice, with the first coming on a trey by Doomes-Stephens with 2:55 left to make the score 26-10.

The Bulls would eventually take a 28-12 lead into the locker room at the break.

USF would hold Seton Hall to a dismal 2-27 from the field and 7.4 percent shooting in the first half. The Bulls would hit on 44.4 percent (12-27) of their shots from the floor in the first stanza. Of USF's 28 first half points, 18 came in the paint.

In the second half, the Pirates would come out and get on the board much quicker than they did in the first half when Terry Green hit a jumper just 1:10 into the final stanza to cut the lead to 28-14.

USF, however, would come right back and hit three-point shots on three consecutive possessions, including two by Allyson Speed and one by KaNeisha Saunders to extend its lead to 23, 37-14 with 17:15 left in the game, and basically breaking the game open.

The Bulls would push their lead to a game-high 27 points, 49-22, on a lay-up by Tiffany Conner with 7:05 left.

Seton Hall would finish strong getting to within 15 points, 53-38, on a three-point shot by Brittany Morris with four seconds left for the final margin.

USF would finish the game hitting 40-7 percent (22-54) from the field while the Pirates would shoot just 21.8 percent (12-55) on the afternoon.

The Bulls would dominate in the paint outscoring Seton Hall 30-8.

The Bulls will return home briefly before heading back out on the road once again to end their three-game road stretch at No. 16/13 Georgetown on Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. USF will return home to the Sun Dome on Feb. 20 to take on No. 9/8 West Virginia at 4:30 p.m.
