CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of South Florida softball team (12-12) suffered a 8-0 loss to the No. 18/17 Oklahoma State Cowgirls in six innings of play Saturday in the USF The Game Tournament.
Defensive miscues by the Bulls were a major factor in the loss. Seven errors, including four outfield errors, resulted in just three of the eight runs being earned.
Senior JoJo Medina broke up the no-hitter in the fifth inning on a lead-off single up the middle. Senior Alison Savarese also singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth for the only other hit of the game.
Senior Kristen Gordon (4-2) was credited with the loss, tossing 2.0 innings, giving up four runs, none earned, on four hits.
Kat Espinosa earned her eighth win against the Bulls, tossing a shutout in 6.0 innings of work. She struck out three while walking one Bull.
