TAMPA - The University of South Florida volleyball team has signed middle blocker/outside hitter Andrea Rodriguez Gomez and outside hitter Bruna Bon to the team for the 2010 season. 

Rodriguez Gomez, a Ronald Reagan Doral Senior High School in Doral, Fla. attendee, was named the Tidewater Volleyball Association's 15's Best All-Around Player. In addition, the righty was named the Landstown High School Most Improved Player in 2008, before transferring to Regan HS. This past summer, she led her Coastal Gold volleyball team to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Miami and she led her Landstown high school team to its first State Championship Tournament after winning first place in the District Championship and first place in the Regional Championship. This was the first time in school history that this had happened. Her sister, Vanessa Rodriguez, is a freshman setter at Mobile University in Alabama. The Miami native was also named to PVA's All-Tournament Team.

"Andrea is an extremely athletic and versatile player that has played all three offensive positions," said Lessinger. "I can't wait to blend her versatility into our offensive system.  She is an emotionally passionate player that will fit in with this group."

Bon, from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, played for the Tijuca Club team where they won eight state championships. In addition to being voted the best passer in 2006 and best player in 2004, the righty won five national championships. Adding to her playing resume, Bon also won second and third place in states and nationals seven times. 

"Bruna is a very experienced all-around player," said head coach Claire Lessinger. "We anticipate her being a dominant force for us offensively and defensively.  We are anxious to get her in uniform.  She is going to make a great BULL!"

Bon and Rodriguez Gomez join Liz Barton, Kimika Rozier and Kayla Walton as 2010 signees.
