Pacheco Training with Canadian National Team

TAMPA - Junior Gina Pacheco of the University of South Florida women's soccer team was one of 22 players to be selected to the Canadian women's soccer national team training camp which started on April 18 and runs through the 25th.

The staff and players departed earlier this weekend for Chongqing, China where they will train throughout the week in advance of their international friendly match against China on April 24.

Pacheco, who is a regular on the Canadian U-20 National team, has already trained two times before once earlier this year in their U-20 Camp held in January and one late November in El Paso, Texas.

Pacheco earned her first international cap for Canada in a friendly match against the United States in Rochester, N.Y.
The Ottawa, Ontario native entered the game in the 81st minute, replacing Kara Lang in hopes of providing a spark to the Canadian offensive attack. Pacheco played the final 11 minutes but did not record a shot.

The April 24 match will be Canada's first match against China under the guidance of national team head coach Carolina Morace. Already this year, Canada has won five consecutive international matches, including a 1-0 victory over New Zealand in the 2010 Cyprus Women's Cup final.
