PITTSBURGH, Pa.-- The University of South Florida (24-30, 15-11 BIG EAST) baseball team rebounded from a walk-off loss to Pittsburgh (37-15, 18-7 BIG EAST) on Thursday night by taking game one of Friday's doubleheader, 7-3.

The Bulls got five scoreless innings from starter Andrew Barbosa, who left the game with Bulls leading 2-0.

Barbosa allowed no runs on just three hits while striking out a pair to earn his team-leading seventh victory of the season.

The Bulls jumped all over Pitt starter Matt Iannazzo who went 7.1 innings allowing seven runs, four earned on 12 hits and took just his second loss of the season. Iannazzo's record fell to 10-2 on the year.

It was the bottom half of the USF batting order that got it done for the Bulls in game one of Friday's doubleheader. Batters six through nine in the lineup each collected a pair of hits, including a three RBI performance from Sean Buckley.

Buckley went 2-4 from the dish with a pair of runs scored and three RBIs which came on a three-run home run to left in the top of the sixth.

Andrew Longley was one of four Bulls with a pair of hits as well as a home run, a solo shot to right in the top of the fifth.

After jumping out to a 5-0 lead through six innings,  thanks to the three run bomb from Longley, the Bulls added another pair in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Jimmy Falla and an RBI from Luis Llerena on a hit by pitch.  Lllerena finished the day with two RBI.

The Panthers managed to score three in the bottom half of the eighth off of USF reliever Matt Quevedo to cut the lead to 7-3, but Joe Cole came on to close out the final 1.2 innings allowing just one hit, and no runs to preserve the game.

USF and Pittsburgh get right back at it in game two of the double-header at 6 p.m. to close out the regular season for both teams.

Game Notes
For the first time in 2010, Stephen Hunt was not in the starting line up for the Bulls... Hunt was hit by a pitch in yesterday's loss... Barbosa's start was his first start since May 8 at St. John's ...Buckley's home run was the first of his career... USF is 20-8 when they score first in games.
