TAMPA - University of South Florida women's basketball standout Andrea Smith has been named to the BIG EAST Conference honor roll for the week ending Jan. 30.
Smith, who is third in the BIG EAST in scoring on the year averaging 17 points per game, averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game last week while helping USF to a 1-1 record against Seton Hall on Jan. 25 and Syracuse on Jan. 29. She also shot 45.7 percent (16-35) from the floor in the two games.
Smith scored 22 points in 39 minutes in helping the Bulls to their first BIG EAST win of the season with a 68-64 victory over Seton Hall. In addition to her 22 points, Smith grabbed six rebounds, had three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. At Syracuse, Smith tallied 23 points, the second most of her collegiate career, while shooting 50 percent (7-14) from the field, including 62.5 percent (5-8) from behind the three-point arc.
The Bulls are currently 10-12 (1-7 BIG EAST) on the year heading into Saturday's game with No. 9/9 Notre Dame at the Sun Dome (7 p.m.).
