TAMPA - The Bulls are turning into the queens of overtime.
The USF women's soccer team played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Cincinnati that marked the Bulls sixth consecutive OT game.
“I think the girls are used it,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said.
Noelle Pineiro put the Bulls ahead in the 52nd minute, but they ended up playing to a tie for the fourth time in 12 games this season.
“I think the girls are defending hard and defending well,” Schilte-Brown said. “We're also creating a lot of goal scoring opportunities. Today we didn't connect on those opportunities as well as we have in the past.”
USF (5-3-4) broke through in the second half when Pineiro tried to get past two defenders at the top of the box and was fouled. The senior made good on the free kick for her second goal of the season.
“She placed it in the right-hand corner with a great shot,” Schilte-Brown said.
Cincinnati (5-4-4) bounced back in the 66th minute when Logan Ballinger scored from 20 yards out near the left post.
“It was a well-taken strike,” Schilte-Brown said.
The Bulls will look to snap their OT streak Sunday when they play at Louisville at 1 p.m.
