Bulls Win Three at Sea Ray Relays

FRIDAY RESULTS

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of South Florida track and field team opened competition at the Sea Ray Relays on Friday and came away with three event wins and 26 BIG EAST qualifiers. David Aristil won the 400-meter hurdles, while Denis von Eynatten (pole vault) and Lauren Noe (Discus) each picked up their third event wins of the outdoor season.

In his second 400-meter hurdles of the season, Aristil was able to better the field with a 51.13, which moved him into 11th on the national list and first in the BIG EAST. He led a group of three Bulls that posted BIG EAST qualifiers in the event. Joining Aristil were Neaman Wise, who finished 11th in 53.19, and Camilo Calderon, who placed 17th with a time of 54.21.

Von Eynatten cleared 13-5.25 to win the pole vault for the third time this season. She entered the competition with a first-attempt clearance at 13-1.50 before taking three attempts to get over at 13-5.25. Von Eynatten's school-record clearance of 14-1.25 earlier this season keeps her in a tie for sixth on the national list and first in the BIG EAST.

In the discus, Noe posted a 153-2 to win the event by two inches over Tennessee's Jessie Harrison. After opening with a 148-5, Noe took the lead in the second round with the 153-2. She followed that up with a 151-3 and was unable to better her second throw on her final three attempts. Noe's 153-6 earlier this season has her ranked in the top 100 nationally and sixth on the BIG EAST list.

Two athletes posted personal bests on the day for the women's team. Christine Poole-Trice clocked a 24.72 in the 200 meters to finish 25th, while Rachael James posted a 55.36 in the 400 meters to claim ninth place. Ena Johnson managed to post two BIG EAST qualifiers with a 14.34 in the 100-meter hurdles (10th) and a 1:03.27 in the 400-meter hurdles (15th). Shambrey Oliver also had two qualifiers with a 12.27 in the 100 meters and a 24.88 in the 200 meters.

For the men's squad, Calderon notched two league marks with a 15.31 in the 110-meter hurdles and the 54.21 in the 400-meter hurdles. In addition, Pascal Orelus took sixth in the 400 meters with a BIG EAST qualifying 47.62, while Antillio Bastian placed seventh in the 200 meters with a 21.47. Bastian also finished fifth in the triple jump behind a mark of 48-2. Mike Vani cleared a season-best 15-7.25 to place sixth in the pole vault.
