TAMPA - It wasn't a win, but head coach George Kiefer definitely
can't complain with how his Bulls finished the weekend.
The USF men's soccer team finished up the Dartmouth
Tournament with a 3-3 tie against the host school after battling through two
overtime periods Sunday in Hanover, N.H. The Bulls (3-1-1) had already played
an overtime game Friday night and ended up passing a huge endurance test on the
road.
“These Friday-Sunday weekends can be a little taxing on the
guys, so to get a tie on the road against one of the better Ivy League teams, I
was pleased with how they guys fought,” Kiefer said.
Dom Dwyer put the Bulls ahead, 1-0, 7:12 into the game on an
assist from Wesley Charpie and Kevin Olali.
Dartmouth fired back with two goals until Lucas Baldin tied
things up for USF in the 53rd minute with an assist in the box from
Stiven Salinas.
Dwyer, who already has five goals this season, added his
second of the game on a breakaway in the 77th minute on an assist
from Santi Alexis.
Dartmouth tied it up for good in the 88th minute.
“I was real pleased with the work ethic of the guys with all
the energy they expended on Friday night,” Kiefer said.
The Bulls get a break from action until Friday when they
host the USF Tournament against St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. USF plays again Sunday
at noon against UC Irvine.
