Former University of South Florida forward Dom Dwyer was selected 16th overall in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday.
The London, England native spent his first two college seasons at Tyler Junior College in Texas, where he won two JUCO national titles. He was named the National Junior College Athletic Association's National Player of the Year in 2010 after leading the nation with 37 goals and 79 points for a team that went 41-0-1 while he was on it.
Dwyer had more success once he became a Bull, leading the Big East in goals (16) and earning All-American status from the NCAA and College Soccer News. He also was a semifinalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Award, given to the top men's soccer player in the nation each year, after helping USF win the Big East Red Division title and make it to the Elite Eight for the third time.
