CLEARWATER - A pair of scoreless inning streaks came to an end as Boston University halted the University of South Florida softball team's winning ways, at least for a moment.
The Terriers ended the Bulls' win-streak at five games Saturday morning, outlasting USF (8-2 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) 5-3 with a pair of rallies in the fourth and fifth innings at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
Timely hitting early gave the Bulls two early leads, but the bats fell silent against Terriers' reliever Holli Floetker late as USF came up short in seven innings.
The Bulls jumped on the board early as junior designated player Kenshyra Jackson lifted a two-out single over the head of the Boston second baseman, scoring two in the first inning.
After the Terriers tied the game with a homer in the top of the fourth, the Bulls went back to work in the bottom half. Jackson singled to lead things off, and was lifted for a pinch-runner in sophomore Courtney Goff. After a wild pitch and sacrifice bunt, senior second baseman Alexis Nowell delivered her second hit of the day, plating Goff from third base.
A three-run rally by Boston in the fifth scored the deciding run, leaving freshman pitcher Sam Greiner with her first career loss.
Jackson and Nowell each finished with two hits and combined to drive home all three runs for USF.
Junior pitcher Lindsey Richardson's scoreless innings streak ended at 20.1, and Greiner allowed her first earned runs of the year in the fifth.
