Etienne Takes Heptathlon Title at FSU Relays

Rachel Etienne helped the Bulls start off their run at the FSU Relays in fantastic fashion.
The senior captured the heptathlon title by winning two of Thursday's three events to finish ahead of teammate Rachel Klinger. Etienne won the long jump (18' 7") and was the top competitor in the 800 with a time of 2:24.19.
Etienne's 4,733 points were just 259 ahead of Klinger, a sophomore, who finished second in the high jump (5' 3.25") and second in the long jump (17' 6.75").
USF's Alex Ware finished fourth in the heptathlon with 4,400 points and Lindsay Arnold took fifth with a score of 4,300. Ware won the javelin throw (102' 8") and took second place in the shot put (37' 5").
The heptathlon and decathlon were the only two events during the first two days of competition at the FSU Relays. The first full day of action begins Friday with collegiate events starting at noon. USF is one of 19 programs competing along with more than 100 high school teams also participating at Mike Long Track.
