Bulls' Win Streak Snapped in New York

By TOM ZEBOLD

USF Senior Writer

The Bulls' winning streak was snapped at two matches with Saturday's 5-2 loss at St. John's in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

Wael Kilani earned a point for the USF men's tennis team at the No. 1 singles position when he outlasted Milo Hauk, 7-5, 6-4. Ravi Patel picked up the other point at the No. 5 singles spot with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Mike Lampa.

The Bulls lost two of three in doubles to miss out on the initial point of the match, but they got a solid effort at the No. 3 spot. Lucas Marin-Salcedo and Guillermo De Vilchez teamed up and triumphed in a marathon match with Lampa and Valentin Mihai to win in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).

USF (5-12) headed to New York with momentum after beating No. 29 Notre Dame and Winthrop last weekend at the USF Varsity Courts. The Bulls will look to regain their footing at home on Thursday when they host UCF at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
