CLEARWATER -  After a pair of offensive battles Saturday, the University of South Florida softball team returned to one of its strengths Sunday afternoon - pitching.

The Bulls (13-3 overall) held Harvard University in check and off the scoreboard at Eddie C. Moore complex Sunday, holding the Crimson to just one earned run to get back into the win column, 4-2.

Sophomore pitcher Sara Nevins continued to perform well, toeing the rubber for six and two-thirds innings to earn her sixth win of the season. Nevins allowed just six hits, striking out eight. Her only blemish, a solo home run allowed in the top of the fourth.

Jackson drove home a pair of runs to retain the team-lead in RBI with 14, and sophomore shortstop Kourtney Salvarola singled home what turned out to be the game-winning run - part of a two-hit game from the Maryland native.

Jackson put USF on the board in the first, scoring Salvarola on a sharp single to stake the Bulls to an early lead.

Up 2-1 in the fourth, the Bulls piled on a pair of insurance runs, receiving an RBI single from Salvarola and RBI fielder's choice from Jackson.

After breezing through four innings, Nevins stranded three runners in the fifth, striking out the side after the first three Crimson batters reached safely.  Harvard's first two hitters in the sixth reached as well, but we left on first and second as Nevins again coaxed her way out of a jam.

Senior catcher Laura Fountain racked up a pair of singles, scoring once as six different Bulls recorded a hit.
