TAMPA – Lindo Mfeka found the back of the net in the third minute of Saturday's match-up with Temple to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead before USF would battle to a 1-1 draw in Pennsylvania.
USF (4-2-5, 1-1-2) did not allow the Owls (7-3-3, 0-1-3) to get a shot off until the 15th minute of play. The Bulls would go on to outshoot Temple 11-3 in the first half of play.
However, one of the Owls shots would get past the Bulls for a goal when Chas Wilson produced the equalizerin the 28th minute off a throw-in set piece.
USF faced adversity before stepping on the field when the game was moved to University of Pennsylvania's Dunning-Cohen Champions' Field at Penn Park due to inclement weather.
"I thought we did a good job, the facility was changed because of weather. It was moved to a turf field, with some strong wind, " head coach George Kiefer said. "I thought they played very well at times and had a chance to put the game away."
That would be it for scoring on both sides. Brentton Muhammad posted five saves in 110 minutes of play for the Bulls.
Brentton was put under some fire because of the way we were playing and moving the ball," Kiefer said."But he made some great saves, especially in the second half."
The Bulls are back in action against SIU-Edwardsville on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m at Corbett Stadium.
