CHARLESTON, S.C.  (Dec. 21, 2013) –
Courtney Williams and
Alisia Jenkins both posted double-doubles, but the USF women's basketball team came up on the wrong end of a decisive run in a 71-64 loss at College of Charleston on Saturday afternoon.
Jenkins finished with 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, and her final jumper tied the game up at 64 with 1:55 remaining, but the Cougars finished on a 7-0 run to give coach Natasha Adair a victory over her alma mater. Adair (formerly Barnes) led the Bulls in rebounding during the 1993-94 season and graduated from USF with a degree in communications in 1994.
Williams posted her third double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Bulls' non-conference finale. USF (5-6) has lost three straight, while College of Charleston (6-4) picked up its first win over the Bulls in three meetings.
USF got a big boost in the second half from 5-foot-9 sophomore guard
Shavontae Naylor, who registered 10 points and seven rebounds after the break.
The Bulls open American Athletic Conference play at home Saturday, Dec. 28 against Rutgers. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and fans can purchase tickets
