Bulls Notch First American Win at Houston

TAMPA (Dec. 31, 2013) – Senior
Inga Orekhova tied her career high with six 3-pointers as the USF women's basketball team notched its first American Athletic Conference win by cruising past Houston, 77-54, Tuesday at
Hofheinz Pavilion.
Orekhova finished with a game-high 18 points after going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to help the Bulls (6-7, 1-1) snap a four-game losing streak.
Alisia Jenkins notched another double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and freshman
Ariadna Pujol posted her third double-digit scoring game as a Bull with 14 points.
USF trailed, 31-30, at the half before totally dominating after the break. The Bulls shot 61 percent from the field after head coach
Jose Fernandez's halftime talk and allowed just seven field goals in the second half while the Cougars shot 21 percent from the field and wound up turning the ball over 13 times.
Alecia Smith led Houston (4-9, 0-2) with 15 points and
Demetria Foreman added 12 points in the Cougars' second straight loss after opening American play with a 67-59 setback against UCF.
