TAMPA – Lindsey Richardson threw a no hitter to lead the Bulls to
their 10th straight win as they defeated Maine in front of a crowd
of 758 at the USF Softball Stadium.
Kourtney Salvarola hit a grand slam in the first inning to
put the Bulls up 4-0 and they never looked back, cruising to a 11-0 victory in
five innings.
Richardson had 10 strikeouts and only walked one batter in
route to throwing her second no hitter this season. With the win she improves
to 5-3 on the year.
USF (16-10) tied a program record with four home runs in a
single game for the second straight week after accomplishing the feat against
UMass last Friday evening.
The Bulls loaded the bases after a single, an error and a
walk when Salvarola took advantage with her second home run of the night. She
hit a three-run shot in the first game of the night against Quinnipiac.
With seven RBIs between the two games Salvarola doubled her
season total on the year and now has 14 to go along with four home runs.
The offense exploded in the bottom of the third, scoring
seven runs off of three home runs to put the Bulls up 11-0.
Kenshyra Jackson and Lee Ann Spivey both hit two-run shots
before Sam Greiner hit a three-run bomb that landed on top of the batting cages
in left center for her first career home run.
USF will be back in action tomorrow night 7 p.m. against
Boston University at the USF Softball Stadium looking to keep their winning streak going.
