Bulls Shut Out St. John's in Game 1

TAMPA – A pair of aces helped the Bulls extend their winning streak to five Wednesday afternoon.

Lindsey Richardson gave up three hits in 4 1/3 innings and Sara Nevins capped off the shutout with 2 2/3 hitless frames in the Bulls' 4-0 win over St. John's at USF Softball Stadium.

USF (28-11, 6-1) was held to just three hits but made St. John's pay for its mistakes. The Bulls scored their first run on a fielding error in the fourth. Dani Wayt and D'Anna Devine each drove in runs in USF's three-run sixth that featured two more errors by the Red Storm. Devine went 2-for-3 with a walk in the leadoff spot.

Richardson (9-3) struck out five and walked a batter while lowering her season ERA to 0.99. Nevins struck out two in her fifth save of the season.

USF and St. John's play game two of their doubleheader at 2:40 p.m. back at USF Softball Stadium.
