Triple Jumpers Lead the Way for USF

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., JAN. 18, 2014 – USF's track and field team opened its season on Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge hosted by Penn State.
The Bulls got a big boost from its triple jumpers as seniors Shane Lewis and Marqueshia Stallworth won their events. Lewis, from Orlando, won with a leap of 15.49 meters (50-10), the second-best mark in program history. Stallworth, from Loxahatchee, needed her last jump to win the women's title with a leap of 12.57 merters (41-3).
Junior Natasha Stewart won the women's long jump with a mark of 5.98 meters (19-7.5), the third best jump ever at USF.
Senior Kevin Bell finished fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.95 and sixth in the 200 meters in 21.89. He also placed third in the long jump at 7.17 meters (23-6.25).
Sophomore Kadeidra Jackson finished fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73. She also placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.55. Other top finishes was Abby Ritter's fourth place finish in the 800 meters (2:16.01) and the distance medley relay's fourth place finish with a time of 12:29.41.
The Bulls will next be in action on Friday at the Jack Johnson Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
