CINCINNATI, OCT. 11, 2014 – Nikola Paunic and Lindo Mfeka scored a little over 3 minutes apart to lead No. 16 USF to a come-from-behind 3-1 win at Cincinnati on Saturday night at Gettler Stadium.
It was the fourth straight game that the Bulls have scored three goals and third straight that they have had back-to-back goals less than 4 minutes apart as they improved to 7-4 on the year and 3-1 in American Athletic Conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Cincinnati broke through with a goal by Ashani Walker in the 52nd minute after a failed clearance attempt by the Bulls' defense.
The Bulls didn't take long to respond, however, as Paunic scored his first-career goal on a rebound off a corner kick to tie the game at one in the 58th minute. Lucas Baldin posted an assist on the play, extending his streak of consecutive games with a point to seven.
Just a little over 3 minutes later Mfeka put USF up for good with his second goal in as many games after a give-and-go with Edwin Moalosi.
The Bearcats struggled to find consistency on offense as the Bulls' stifling defense held them to only one shot on goal and six total shots for the game.
With Cincinnati pushing for the equalizer the Bulls were able to add an exclamation point in the 90th minute as Mfeka scored his second goal of the game on the counter attack.
Eduardo Maceira led the Green and Gold with four shots and also recorded his second assist this season while Moalosi had two assists to bump his season total to five for the year.
USF returns to Corbett Stadium for its next game on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to face Denver in a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets to USF-Denver and the Bulls' remaining home games against Memphis (Oct. 25) and UConn (Nov. 1) HERE.
