CHATTANOOGA, NOV. 16, 2014 – Stingy defense and a balanced offensive attack sent the USF women's basketball team to its second RPI top-50 win in two days Sunday afternoon.

The Bulls (2-0 overall) found points from 11 different players and held Chattanooga to 31 percent shooting from the field, snapping the Mocs' NCAA-best 40-game home winning streak with a 59-57 win in Chattanooga, Tenn.

USF used three different point guards to supplement the absence of starting guard Laura Marcos Canedo (foot injury), as the trio combined for 10 points, including big ones at the end of each half. Seeing her first minutes as a Bull, junior Bre Brooks sparked a 10-0 run to end the first half, driving coast-to-coast for a layup and sinking a jumper with five seconds remaining to put USF up 31-21 at the break.

The Bulls' other junior point guard, Shalethia Stringfield, provided the deciding points in the second half. With the game tied at 57 and a minute left, Stringfield sank a pair of free throws to put USF up for good, accounting for two of USF's 24 bench points in the game.

The Mocs started the game off hot, jumping out to their largest lead of the game in the first nine minutes, at 16-8. USF penetrated the defense well off the dribble however, getting 16 points in the paint over the first 20 minutes to open up the perimeter shooters. The Bulls took advantage, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc in four attempts over the final seven minutes, building what would be USF's largest lead of the game at the half.

Chattanooga chipped away at USF's lead in the second half, taking a brief lead in the final five minutes, but a Courtney Williams three-pointer followed by a key shot clock-beating layup tied things back up for the Bulls at 57-57 with three minutes remaining, setting up Stringfield for the game-winning free throws.

Williams hit three 3-pointers en route to a team-high 15 points, and added eight rebounds. Junior forward Alisia Jenkins notched her second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to go with three blocks and two steals. Senior Tamara Taylor scored seven for the Bulls as USF shot .476 from the field and .545 from beyond the arc.

USF returns to action Wednesday, traveling to College Park to face No. 10 Maryland before returning to the Sun Dome Saturday for the Bulls' home opener.
