TAMPA, MARCH 12, 2014 – The USF softball team won their fifth straight with a 2-1 victory over Providence in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader at the USF Softball Stadium.

The Bulls (21-7) were led by a dominant pitching performance from their senior ace Sara Nevins (Pinellas Park), as she went the distance for the sixth time this year and struck out a season-high 11 batters in seven innings to pick up her 11th win this season.

Kourtney Salvarola (Arnold, Md.) got the Bulls started with a bang, launching her team-leading eighth home run of the year to put USF up 1-0 in the first inning.

McKall Miller got Providence (0-7) on the board and tied the game at one with an RBI single up the middle in the fourth, but the Bulls responded quickly.

A sharp liner to left center by Juli Weber (Hegins, Pa.) scored D'Anna Devine (Morrisville, Pa.) and put the Bulls back on top in the bottom half of the fourth. That would prove to be the game-winning hit as Weber ended up at second with a double and her ninth RBI of the season.

The Bulls take on Penn in game two of the doubleheader with first pitch slated for 7:15 p.m. at the USF Softball Stadium.
