USF Senior Writer TAMPA, MARCH 14, 2014 – USF's bats couldn't solve left-hander Whitney Canion in a 3-0 loss to No. 12 Baylor on Friday afternoon in the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament. USF (22-8) managed three hits against Baylor's all-time wins leader while Canion struck out 11 and walked a pair of batters. USF senior Ashli Goff (Tampa) went 2-for-3 from the No. 2 spot in the order while her sister, Courtney Goff, added a single in the seventh inning after Canion retired 11 consecutive batters for Baylor (19-4) in its seventh straight victory. USF starter Erica Nunn (7-4) struck out six and gave up three earned runs on four hits, including a solo homer to Sarah Smith in the seventh inning. Reliever Sam Greiner (Sparta, N.J.) retired each of the three batters she faced. USF's Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament run continues 4:45 p.m. Friday against UMass back at USF Softball Stadium.
