
Anderson, USF Men's Squad Shine on Day 2

TAMPA, MARCH 1, 2014 – Courtney Anderson's second-place finish in the high jump highlighted USF's final day of the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday at The Armory in New York.
Anderson earned medalist honors with a leap of 5-9.25 that ties for second all-time in USF indoor history. The senior from Cape Coral, Fla., also owns the program's top mark of 5-11.25 she set last year.
Marqueshia Stallworth also earned medalist honors by placing third in the triple jump with a leap of 40-8.25 that ranks fourth in USF history. The senior from Loxahatchee, Fla., also ranks second in program history with a mark of 41-9.25 she set in 2012.
The USF women placed eighth, while the men's team finished fifth after Shane Lewis stole the show in the triple jump. The senior from Orlando placed second in the event with a leap of 51-11 that ranks third in program history.
Sophomore Matthew O'Neal was right behind Lewis in the triple jump with a third-place mark of 51-6.25 that ranks fourth in program history. O'Neal also owns the program's second-best mark of 52-0.7 he set earlier this season.
Senior Derrick Hopkins earned medalist honors with a third-place finish in the 200 meters. The senior from Opa Locka, Fla., posted a time of 21.59 seconds that ranks second in program history, behind his record-breaking time of 21.30 seconds in 2011.
Junior Giscard Petion is bringing a medal back to his hometown of Tampa after placing third in the high jump with a mark of 6-10.25 that ranks third in program history. Junior Chase Meyers (Punta Gorda, Fla.) placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 6-8.75.
The USF men's squad also picked up valuable points by placing fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:15.63.
"The kids did a very good job," said head coach Warren Bye, who sent 16 women and 19 men to the event. "They stepped up and did a nice job executing and really competing well.
The Bulls get their outdoor season started at home with the USF Open March 13-14 at USF Track & Field Stadium.
