TAMPA, MARCH 7, 2014 – The Bulls put together a late rally in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as the Jayhawks came away with a 9-3 victory at the USF Softball Stadium on Friday night.

Ashli Goff, Stephanie Medina and Karla Claudio all recorded RBIs in the bottom of the seventh to bring the Bulls within six, but the team struggled to find any rhythm at the plate up until that point.

Kansas' starting pitcher Alicia Pille was able to keep USF (16-7) off balance throughout the game and picked up her fourth win of the year.

Sara Nevins had another tough outing after getting the start in game two despite struggling earlier in the day against Northwestern. The senior from Pinellas Park gave up a three-run homer to Chaley Brickey in to first inning and was relieved by Erica Nunn before recording an out.

The Jayhawks added two more runs in the third after a two-run shot to left center by Harli Ridling to take a 5-0 lead. Kansas also scored runs in the sixth and the seventh to put the game out of reach.

With the loss the Bulls fell to 0-2 in the Under Armour Showcase and will have a day off tomorrow before resuming play with two more games on Sunday. USF will take on Utah and St. Joseph's starting at 3:30 at the USF Softball Stadium. Purchase tickets HERE.
