Camden, N.J. (April 12, 2014) – USF took a commanding 5-0 lead early in the ballgame but Temple rallied scoring the final six runs of the game to pull out a 6-5 victory Saturday afternoon in American Athletic Conference action at Campbell's Field.

The loss drops the Bulls to 19-15 on the year while standing at 6-5 in the conference while Temple improves to 10-17 overall and 5-6 in league action.

Like they did yesterday, USF jumped out to a 5-0 lead scoring two runs in the second inning and three in the fifth inning.

In the second, Luke Borders (Winter Haven) singled up the middle with one out to start the rally. After a fly out, Vincent Miniet (Tampa) doubled off the leftfield wall plating Borders all the way from first. The fourth ball to Kyle Teaf (Tallahassee) was a wild pitch allowing Miniet to move up to third base before he scored on Lawrence Pardo (Miami) single through the right side.

Pardo began the fifth inning with another single through the right side and moved up to second on a ground out which was the second out of the frame. Buddy Putnam (Bartow) walked on four pitches before Levi Borders (Winter Haven) had a two-run double down the leftfield line pushing the USF lead to 4-0. Zac Gilcrease (Tampa) drove home the final run of the game for the Bulls with a single up the middle.

Temple wasted no time answering back putting up four runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth. They received RBI base hits from Bobby Heitzman, Reyn Sugai and Derek Peterson while also getting a sacrifice fly off the bat of Josh Mason.

Daniel Dragos delivered a pinch-hit RBI single up the middle in the eighth inning to tie the game at five apiece.

With two outs and down 1-2 in the count, Robert Amaro singled to leftfield plating Mason and giving the Owl the walk-off victory.

Casey Mulholland (Bradenton) started the game for USF going only 4.1 innings allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three. Janick Serrallonga (Hialeah) was solid in relief going 3.1 innings. He was credited with a run after he was relieved with two outs in the eighth on the pinch-hit single by Dragos. Jordan Strittmatter (Daytona) was struck with the loss falling to 1-1 on the year allowing a run in the ninth.

Pardo, Luke Maglich (Sarasota), Luke Borders and Gilcrease each had two hits apiece as the Bulls tallied 11 hits on the night. Despite the 11 hits, USF stranded 11 runners on base in the game.

Tim McCarthy earned the win for Temple tossing a perfect ninth inning. Patrick Vanderslice started the contest allowing all five runs in five innings of work. Patrick Krall kept Temple in the contest surrendering just two hits over three scoreless innings of relief.

Sugai, Amaro and Andrew Nist each had two hits apiece for Temple.

The two sides will play the rubber game tomorrow morning at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J. The game was moved up a half hour to 11:30 a.m. from the originally scheduled time.
