TAMPA (April 6, 2014) – No. 46 USF finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record at home as the Bulls took down No. 65 Georgia State 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls improved their winning streak to 12 matches in a row, the longest in school history over the past 25 seasons. They also finish the regular season at 15-3.
USF was able to rebound like they did on Friday after dropping the doubles points to win all four singles matches that were completed. Senior Loreto Alonso-Martinez picked up the first win for the Bulls easily taking down No. 13 Abigail Tere-Apisah. Fellow senior Kayla Rizzolo put USF in front at second singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Masa Grgan.
Vera Bessonova inched the Bulls closer to victory with a win at fifth singles, 6-4, 6-4 over Maryna Kozachenko. Olaya Garrido-Rivas closed out the patch defeating Linn Timmerman 7-6, 6-1 at third singles.
With the regular season concluded, USF will prepare for the inaugural American Athletic Conference championship which is being hosted by USF. The Championships will get underway on Thursday, April 17 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
