Cousins Signs with USF

TAMPA, May 21, 2014 – Head coach Orlando Antigua announced the addition of center Jaleel Cousins to the USF men's basketball team on Tuesday.

Described by many as raw and developing, Cousins has the frame to be successful at USF at 6-feet-10, 260 pounds. He averaged 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He will be eligible to play as a junior this upcoming season.

“Jaleel is a big, physical, long kid whose best basketball is still ahead of him,” Antigua said. “He has a huge upside which makes me excited to get a chance to work with him.”

Antigua has a history with the Cousins family as he was an assistant coach at Kentucky when Jaleel's older brother DeMarcus played with the Wildcats and later became the fifth overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.

Cousins will join point guard Kareem Canty, center/forward Ruben Guerrero, guard Troy Holston, guard Dinero Mercurius and forward Nehemias Morillo as additions to the roster for the upcoming season.

The Bulls return four players who saw playing time last season in Corey Allen Jr., Anthony Collins, Jordan Omogbehin and Chris Perry. Antigua is in his first season as head coach after spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Kentucky.
